Editorial Policy

How content is created

Every topic begins with an editorial brief that specifies the target patient question, the intent, and the peer-reviewed sources we plan to cite. Drafts are written by staff editors trained in evidence-based dental content, or commissioned from licensed clinicians.

Medical review process

Before publication, every treatment, cost, comparison, and clinical article is reviewed by a licensed orthodontist for medical accuracy, safety, and completeness. Reviewer name, credentials, and review date are shown on the article.

Evidence hierarchy

1. Systematic reviews and meta-analyses (Cochrane, JCO, AJODO)
2. Clinical practice guidelines (AAO, ADA, FDI, WHO)
3. Randomised controlled trials indexed on PubMed
4. Observational studies and case series
5. Consensus expert opinion, labelled clearly when used

Research and sourcing standards

Primary sources are preferred. We link to the original study, guideline, or dataset whenever possible. Marketing content from clinics or manufacturers is never used as a medical citation.

Fact-checking

Every claim of fact (statistic, price range, timeline, contraindication) is checked against a primary source and dated. See our Fact-Checking Policy.

Update frequency

Clinical articles are re-reviewed at least every 12 months, or immediately when a major guideline, technology, or evidence change occurs. City-level pricing is reviewed quarterly.

Corrections

See our Corrections Policy. We aim to acknowledge factual errors within 5 working days and log every change publicly.

Independence

Advertisers, clinics, and manufacturers cannot change our verdicts, price ranges, or doctor rankings. Sponsored placements, when present, are labelled.
